The Outstanding Fishing Piers of the Outer Banks

Kitty Hawk Pier

The Kitty Hawk Pier is now owned by the Hilton Garden Inn and is at Milepost 1 in Kitty Hawk. To walk on the pier, the fee is $3 for non-guests, and it is free of charge for hotel guests. To go fishing, the pass is $20 for non-guests and free for guests. The hours are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. The Kitty Hawk Pier is a wonderful spot along the Outer Banks and is a fun place to visit in Kitty Hawk, so check it out while you’re here!

Avalon Fishing Pier

The Avalon Fishing Pier is located at Milepost 6 in Kill Devil Hills. In the summer, it is open from 5 a.m. to 2 a.m.; in the spring and fall, it is open from 6 a.m. until the traffic slows down, which is typically before 10 p.m. The price for fishing on the pier is $12 for adults and $6 for children ages 12 and under, at a daily rate. A pass for three days is $33, a pass for a week is $69, and a pass for a season is $300. The Avalon Fishing Pier is in a great spot in Kill Devil Hills for a fun fishing adventure!

Nags Head Fishing Pier

The Nags Head Fishing Pier is at Milepost 11.5. Prices vary based on the pass, but a day pass is $12, a season pass for an individual is $300, and for kids under the age of 12, the passes are half off. From the spring to the fall, the pier is open 24 hours a day. This is one of the best fishing locations on the Outer Banks, so make sure to visit during an Outer Banks vacation!

Jennette’s Pier

Jennette’s Pier is located in Nags Head at Milepost 16.5. It is open 364 days a year, and hours vary based on the time of year. Daily rates for fishing are $12 for adults and $6 for children. Walk-on charges are $2 for adults and $1 for children. Jennette’s Pier is a great place to go fishing and also check out the NC Aquarium displays and educational exhibits. The site has parking and a bathhouse with showers available. There are also a variety of fun programs in which to participate. Visit Jennette’s Pier for a unique fishing experience!

Outer Banks Fishing Pier

The Outer Banks Fishing Pier is in South Nags Head at Milepost 18.5, and it is open 24 hours a day. The pier has been a prime location for fishing on the Outer Banks for more than 50 years. A daily pass is $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 11 and under, and free for children ages 5 and under. A 3-day pass is $25, a weekly pass is $50, and a seasonal pass for an individual is $175. You do not need a fishing license to be permitted to fish on the Outer Banks Fishing Pier. Visit the Outer Banks Fishing Pier during your trip!

If you are ready to go fishing on the Outer Banks, but don’t have the proper gear, we are happy to rent you our 8’ Rod n’ Reel. It comes with a sand spike in case you decide to move the fishing adventure to the beach. With your rental, you have the option of purchasing a tackle kit from us that includes bottom rigs, triangular weights, hooks, and Fishbites Saltwater bait, or you can visit a local store to purchase the tackle of your choice. Don’t forget a cooler for your catch and for cold beverages while you’re fishing!  We rent a medium-sized cooler that can hold approximately 24 cans.
