Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day on the OBX

Ocean Atlantic Rentals and the entire OBX community is ready to go green this weekend (3/20/22) with the 31st annual Kelly’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The OBX Humane Society and The Outer Banks Hospital will both be leading the parade as we celebrate their service to the community each for 20 years!

This is NC’s largest St. Patrick’s parade with tons of floats, participants and spectators. Judges will hand out awards for the best overall, best float, best unit and best band/music group. The parade is sort of the unofficial kickoff of the spring season for our OBX community as we prepare for vacation season.

For many years, Ocean Atlantic Rentals has participated in the parade with a float, decorated company vehicles, golf carts and TONS of candy. This year alone we ordered 85 pounds of candy to be lofted to spectators on the parade route. It is always a time of company camaraderie as we join together to make fun memories.

We want to give a special shoutout to the parade founder, Mike Kelly, who has kept the tradition going for over 3 decades now.

The parade kicks off at 1 p.m. this Sunday, March 20, at Bladen Street and the Beach Road at milepost 11.5 in Nags Head and will follow a one-mile route north to Driftwood Street. This year (2022), due to stormwater improvement work in the 2400 block of South Virginia Dare Trail, the parade will terminate at Admiral Street where a traffic light at the street’s intersection with South Croatan Highway will provide a safer means of departing the area.

HERE ARE A FEW PICTURES FROM THIS YEAR’S PARADE!
