The Corolla Greenway has been in the works for many years. The goal of the project was to provide a walkway for residents and visitors to safely traverse through the community of Corolla. Phase III of the greenway has just been completed. This 3-mile extension of the greenway starts at Ocean Sands Section A and runs to Monterey Plaza on Albacore Street.
About the Greenway
The Corolla Greenway is a 10’ wide multi-use path of concrete trail and boardwalk that winds beside Highway 12. It was greatly needed as residents and visitors to Corolla love to walk, run, and bike around the community. It will provide a much safer way for people to get around and enjoy the area. There has been talk of continuing the greenway with a phase IV and V along with further developing the existing pathways.
Keep in mind: The county made a public service announcement asking that users of the path exercise caution, especially at community intersections and at the Ocean Sands Wastewater Treatment Plant project where trucks accessing the plant have to cross the path. Also, motorized vehicles – golf carts, mopeds, scooters, etc. – are restricted from using the paths.
Although motorized vehicles are prohibited, the Greenway is the perfect place to go for a family bike ride through Corolla. If you don’t want to bring bikes on your vacation, we have a variety of bikes available for rent on our equipment rental website including adult unisex, men’s, women’s, kids’, and tandems. Our unisex fat tire beach cruiser is one of our newest and most popular rental items. The fat tire bike is stylish and comfortable. It is a 3G Newport Deluxe single-speed cruiser. The large tires will have better traction on the sand and offer the most comfortable ride for a beach cruiser. The bike has “royal” handlebars that are relaxed for a wide grip and easy maneuvering.
