SUP the Sound
“SUP” or stand up paddleboarding has taken the Outer Banks by storm. The sport can be enjoyed by people of all athletic abilities and body types and even offers a great workout! Here on the Outer Banks we have great soundside accesses that will let you hone your SUP skills while getting a different perspective of the OBX! One of the best kept secrets of Nags Head is the sound access at Jockey’s Ridge State Park. This access is located off of Soundside Road just south of Jockey’s Ridge. The area is perfect for stand up paddleboarding as the water is shallow with limited wave action.
Kayak Pea Island
To get one of the best outdoor experiences the Outer Banks has to offer, take your kayak across the Herbert C. Bonner Bridge onto Pea Island. The New Inlet Sound Access on Pea Island makes for the perfect place to launch your kayak and take in all of the preserved beauty that make our area so very special! When kayaking in these tranquil waters, you will enjoy a plethora of wildlife surrounded by beautiful scenery.
Tour Nags Head on Bicycle
The town of Nags Head is equipped with a wonderful bike path that runs the entire length of the town along the beach road. If you are looking for a great way to enjoy some casual exercise, be sure to ride your Outer Banks bike rental on this bike path. You will enjoy checking out the sights and sounds of Nags Head’s Gallery Row, Old Nags Head District, and Whalebone Junction while pedaling your way down the path!
Beach Volleyball
One of the best ways to enjoy a day at the beach with your friends is with a volleyball set! The Outer Banks beaches are usually uncrowded, so finding a space to put your volleyball net will not be difficult if you arrive to the beach early. After you’re all set up, you can bump, set, and spike for as long as your heart desires. Get a tan while playing beach volleyball in 2015!
