Ocean Atlantic Rentals is proud to be an event equipment and service sponsor for the annual Outer Banks Marathon weekend event. This is a great event that offers something for everyone, from a kids run and games to the full marathon. Read on to discover how you can participate in the Outer Banks Marathon weekend festivities!
The Outer Banks Marathon course starts in historic Kitty Hawk and ends in downtown Manteo, taking you through 26 scenic miles of the Outer Banks. This beautiful course gives you a glimpse of the Albemarle Sound, the Wright Brothers Monument, Nags Head Woods Nature Preserve, Jockey’s Ridge State Park, and takes you over the Washington-Baum bridge and into the finishers festival in downtown Manteo. You will experience more on your 26 mile journey than many visitors do on their entire vacation to the Outer Banks!
The Half Marathon and Challenges
In addition to the marathon, there are shorter distance races to participate in, or choose a challenge to register for! All the challenges include running either a full or half marathon on Sunday in addition to the 5k or 8k on Saturday. You’ll get to run in 2 races, get 2 shirts, and receive 3 finisher medals!
The “Southern Fried” Half Marathon runs the second half of the marathon course. It begins near Jockey’s Ridge and ends at the same location in downtown Manteo. If 13.1 miles seems too much for you, consider participating in the Southern 6 – a little over 6 miles, it is the southern portion of the marathon/half marathon course, once again finishing at the same location in downtown Manteo.
